Trade show displays have become a necessary component of most companies convention and corporate marketing efforts over the past few decades. Unless your marketing territory is just your own backyard, then you will certainly become a potential buyer. Trade Show Exhibits and Displays now come in such a wide range of sizes, shapes, colors, and prices, that there is something for almost everyone who actively promotes their business.

Trade show booths spaces are sold to potential exhibitors in a wide variety of shows which convene in every venue you can find where people gather for a common purpose. Because of the cost of your investment and the potential for return on your investment if done correctly, it pays to carefully consider all your options.

First and foremost, you should carefully weigh the cost of attending the show including your investment in a trade show display, cost of the trade show booth space itself, and all the incidental costs associated with exhibiting including drayage, carpet/flooring, electrical, and of course transportation and housing. These all should be carefully weighted out against the perceived reward or payback for successfully exhibiting in the show.

Next you should to consider how often you are going to exhibit in trade shows each year? Does it warrant the expense of purchasing a portable trade show display?

If you're going to exhibit only once or twice a year, then you don't need to consider to the same extent, the longevity of the marketing displays you're purchasing. Also take into consideration if you are delivering it to the exposition yourself, or do you have to pay to have it shipped which will add, over time, a considerable amount of wear to the display itself.

Once you've done your homework and have analyzed all the risks and potential rewards, and if moving forward is the best choice, begin considering what type of trade display stands would be best for you. Based upon the analysis you did above, establish a budget and then venture out into the marketplace and see what kind of trade show exhibits you can afford. Also keep in mind that renting something for the first year, might not be that bad of an idea especially if your budget is meager and the only display you can afford might be more of an embarrassment than a help.

Perhaps one of the best pieces of advice that I can offer is to be sure your message is communicated on your booth with as few words as possible, and with visual impressions that speak volumes. Don't make the mistake of thinking that everyone must know who you are, because if you fail to adequately communicate what your company offers to the marketplace, that mistake could be fatal. If you look busy in your booth and attendees don't know by looking at your graphicswhat it is that your company does, they will just keep walking and never break stride.
