Do It Yourself , Part I

A Trade Show Displays Tip:

The do it yourself movement has sparked many an individual to believe that they can do anything if only with the proper resources at their disposal. From home decorating to plumbing, landscaping, and even full on construction we are infused with new found self confidence and a desire to save money and still, ultimately, get exactly what it is that we want. The do-it-yourselfers can also be found on the business front as companies of all shapes and sizes embark upon projects that were once clearly defined as belonging to the professionals. Now, part time administrative assistants are also part time marketing representatives; management is a part of the sales time; and employees are wearing hats they didn’t know they owned.

There is a trade off to doing your display boards yourself, however, and sometimes it only winds up costing you more money in the end. Ask any homeowner that tackled that electrical job to save themselves $5k only to spend double that amount fixing the mess they made. Individuals and businesses need to heed the warning of the do-it-yourselfers that have been there and done that; there is a false economy that is often present and it bears consideration. Consider those companies that desire to participate in trade shows with display boards. This is a solid decision for any company large or small, as the trade show environment offers the opportunity for participants within the same industry or across industry lines to come together in the spirit of generating new business. Companies are able to market and promote their services, get their name out there, create a buzz around their brand, and get up close and personal with prospective clients and customers they may not otherwise have the opportunity to get in front of with their sales pitch.

But too many companies, in the face of the cost of trade show participation, choose to go it alone in creating their own display boards; a decision that ultimately could wind up costing them money.
